Scholarship Terms and Conditions

The student must be enrolled as a full-time, degree-seeking in a program at the University of Mississippi after serving as editor of The Daily Mississippian. If your awarded scholarship is specific to the journalism major, you could risk losing your scholarship if you change majors (even within the Meek School of Journalism.)

This scholarship is payable in equal installments between the Fall and Spring semesters after his/her tenure as editor has ended.

Full-time enrollment of at least 12 hours each semester is required.

Enrollment in year-long Independent Study (correspondence) courses will not count in the full-time enrollment calculation.

If you withdraw from the University within the 100% institutional refund period (the first 10 days of classes), any scholarship that has already credited to your bursar account must be repaid in full.

If you withdraw from the University and attend another college, you will forfeit your scholarship unless prior arrangements have been made with The University of Mississippi Office of Financial Aid.

This scholarship, in combination with all other financial aid and resources, may not exceed the student’s estimated cost of attendance. If the total exceeds this cost, it will be subject to reduction.

You must prepare a letter during the first term you are enrolled thanking the donor for your scholarship. Please deliver in a pre-stamped envelope or send the letter in a pre-stamped envelope to the University of MS, Meek School of Journalism, 114 Farley Hall, University, MS 38677. The Meek School will see that this letter is delivered. Failure to comply with this expectation will result in termination of your scholarship.
