Work-Study positions usually average 8-12 hours per week and pay $9.00- $12.00 per hour, per that department’s discretion. If you are interested in one of the positions listed below, please contact the supervisor for more information regarding the interview and hiring process. If you are hired, please request the Federal Work-Study Placement Sheet from the Office of Financial Aid (257 Martindale-Cole Student Services Center) and complete this form with your supervisor before returning it back to our office.

Position Esports Facility Worker

Position Voting Engagement Ambassador
Job Qualifications HIRING NOW FOR THE FALL! Event planning, customer service skills, research skills, willingness and ability to create nonpartisan voter education and registration programs, willingness to learn and grow.
Job Purpose Create, plan, and execute nonpartisan voter education and registration programmning with the Center for Community Engagement for the UM campus.
Job Responsibilities Work 5-10 hours per week; plan and attend nonpartisan voter education, registration, and civic engagement events on the UM campus; be knowledgeable about the voter registration process in Oxford, Mississippi, and the United States (these processes will be covered during training); complete all tasks and other duties as assigned; attend a weekly Voting Engagement Ambassador team meeting; participate in Center for Community Engagement events including the CCE Fall Retreat and All Student Meetings (typically held 3-4 times per semester); lead planning efforts for one event at least once per academic year. PAY RATE FOR THIS POSITION IS $11.00/HR.

Position Student Worker
Job Qualifications The student must be willing to work with fish. The student must be hardworking, responsible, timely, and have the ability to work independently after training.
Job Purpose To help care for fish.
Job Responsibilities Job responsibilities are to care for fish which includes feeding and spawning the fish and maintaining healthy living environments for the fish (cleaning tanks, changing filters, checking ammonia and pH, etc). Does require some weekend work. Other laboratory tasks include making buffers and media. The opportunity for conducting more detailed experiments may arise.

Job Qualifications Minimum of a 2.5 GPA, full-time student in good judicial standing with the University. Position IMPACT Peer Mentor
Job Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled as a University of Mississippi undergraduate student.
  • Must be classified as a Junior or Senior during the time of service.
  • Commitment to academic excellence as demonstrated by maintaining at least a 2.75 cumulative GPA.
  • Be in good academic and student conduct standing.
  • Be self-motivated and have a positive attitude.
  • Extensive knowledge of the University of Mississippi campus resources and services.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Job Purpose/Responsibilities Each IMPACT Peer Mentor will mentor a cohort of IMPACT students. Successful mentors will have devised strategies to navigate college’s academic and social environment and must be willing to/capable of sharing their insights. Mentors are responsible for maintaining weekly contact with their mentees, including individual meetings, mentee phone calls, mentee email correspondence, developing and presenting academic workshops, and peer mentor training. IMPACT Peer Mentors are hired for a full academic year, and mentors with exceptional performance will be invited to apply for an additional year.
